An easy way to channel your inner child, zone out, relax and put any scrap materials around the house to good use is with some good old do-it-yourself craft-making!
One of my favourite crafty projects is making cute fluffy little pom-poms. To learn how to make some of your own, read on...
What you’ll need:
∙ wool or string
∙ circular object (for example a jar, a candle, cup etc.)
∙ pencil or pen
Take your circular object and trace two circles onto a piece of cardboard. Draw two smaller circles in the centre.
Cut out the large circles, fold them in half and cut the centre out to create a couple of doughnuts.
Hold the doughnuts together while looping your wool or string around the cardboard.
Do so until you can no longer see the cardboard (and then some).
Now, cut some of the wool to reveal the cardboard.
Slide your scissors in between the doughnuts and cut around the circle.
Your (almost) pom-pom should now look a little something like this:
Cut a new piece of string to loop around your pom-pom, between the two pieces of cardboard. Tighten and tie a few knots.
Remove the cardboard by sliding or cutting it off.
Cut off any excess and you've got yourself a pom-pom!! Now, all you have to do is contain your excitement!
